Robert Elmo Daw

OCTOBER 5, 1935 – SEPTEMBER 27, 2022

Our dad, Robert Elmo Daw passed away peacefully on September 27th, 2022. He was born in Salt Lake City on October 5th, 1935, to William Elmo Daw and Irene Gygi Daw. He attended West High School. Dad met a cute little Italian girl at his sister's wedding, Mary Gerome. Bob and Mary eloped on October 31, 1954. Then on June 8th, 1961, they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Together, Dad and Mom made our home a happy, warm and loving place to grow up in. Dad was a people person, he loved talking with people and getting to know them, which is why he was so successful as a sales rep for most of his career. He was an award-winning sculptor and artist. He loved to create and share his wonderful talents. He was also an avid runner having completed many marathons, 5ks and 10ks. He was always willing to help and encourage anyone who might be struggling during a run. He earned the nickname "Trainer Bob" which he loved.

Most important to Dad was his family and his testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He loved serving others, attending the temple and sharing the gospel. Together with Mom they served two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He truly loved our Savior, Jesus Christ and was a real scholar of the scriptures. Even toward the end of his earthly journey, when most of his talents and passions were taken from him, you could still find him studying the scriptures and reading the "Come Follow Me" manual. He went downhill after losing Mom in April. He missed her terribly and we are so happy they are together again. We are grateful for the loving care of Nikki and the caregivers at Inspiration Home Health and Hospice.

He is survived by his sister Joyce Jackson, his children, Gregg (Sharlene), Korby (Dave) Hanks, Bruce (Sydney) and Stephen (Sue). Twenty grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren, and many nephews, nieces and cousins. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary, his parents, daughter Susan, grandson Clayton, sister Donna Worthington and brother Lynne.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 14th at 11:00 a.m. at the Olympus Stake Center, 2675 E. 4430 So. A visitation will be held prior to the service at 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment at Wasatch Lawn.
