Captain, Royal Navy, Knight. Son of Dr. Meyer Löw Schomberg and his wife, Elizabeth (Fell) Schomberg. Married Mary Susannah Arabella Chalmers in 1770. They had several children including sons: George, Alexander and Charles. At the time of his death, he was senior officer on the Captain's List. He was knighted in 1777. He joined the Royal Navy in 1743 and eventually commanded several ships. Sir Alexander was in command of His Majesty's yacht H.M.S. Dorset at the time of his death and had refused to leave in order to obtain flag rank.
