George S. Wilson was born June 20, 1837, in Schuyler county, N. Y., and died at his home in Leavenworth, Kan.

on Jan. 7, 1916.


In 1860 he was united in marriage with Miss Murella Lewis. To them were born two sons, Fred L and A. M.


The former died in Tucson, Arizona, and A. M. now makes his home at Aeneas, Wash. Mrs wilson died at Holyoke on Jan. 23, 1890, and the body was buried in the Holyoke cemetery.


The family came to Colorado in 1886 and located on a quarter of government land now adjoining the town of Holyoke where they made their home till 1891 when he went to Woodhull, NY, where he resided for six years.


He returned to Holyoke and spent a year with the family of S. S. Worley on the farm. He went from Holyoke to Tucson, Ari., and made his home with his sons for a time, later making his Leavenworth, Kan, where he was residing at time of death.


At the time of the civil war, he enlisted and served in the 61, New York volunteers.


During his residence in our county he made many friends among the early settlers and was highly respected by all who knew him.


His body was brought to Holyoke by his son, A. M, for burial and on Sunday, Jan. 9, the body was laid to rest by the side of the grave of his wife in the Holyoke cemetery, the services being conducted by Rev. Bainbridge in the presence of a goodly number of old settlers.
