Mr. Stackhouse was born in Denver, Colorado on March 24, 1930 to John Sheridan Stackhouse and Lelah Smith.
Mr. Stackhouse graduated from Manuel High School in Denver in 1949, he then entered the U. S. Air Force and spent 20 years in the service before retiring as a Master Sergeant. After his discharge, John attained a Bachelor's degree in Technical Education from Colorado State University and he then taught at the Denver Institute of Technology and later at I.T.T.
John Stackhouse married Doris Walterbach on November 24,1978 in Denver, Colorado and the couple moved to Estes Park in 1994. Mr. Stackhouses retired in 1992 and he was a substitute teacher for Park School District.
Mr. Stackhouse was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Doris, of Estes Park, and three sons, John E. and wife Tracy Stackhouse of Denver, Colorado, Jay S. and wife, Brenda Stackhouse of Frederick, Wisconsin, and Raymond E.Stackhouse of Aurora, Colorado. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Sam,Zachary,Nate,Maya and Adina Stackhouse.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Buriel was held at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church on April 30, 2001.
