Obituary

John G. Hutchison was born at Athens, Ohio, December 1st, 1843, departed this life Jan. 10th, 1919, at Wellington, Kans., at the age of 75 years, 1 month, 10 days. He moved to La Plata, Mo., at the age of 10 years and resided there until beginning of the Civil war when in August, 1861, he enlisted in Co. B, Missouri State Militia, and served 16 months, when the company was mustered out of service and he then enlisted in Co. L, 13th Regiment, Missouri cavalry, and served until the close of the war, having served four years and four months. He then went to Butler, Mo., to reside and on May 15th, 1894, was married to Ella Van Horn and resided there until June, 1907, when he moved to Wellington. He was a member of James Shields Post, No. 57, G.A.R. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from the home on East Harvey street with Rev. Floyd Bash officiating. Burial was in Prairie Lawn cemetery. He is survived by his wife and one daughter.
