Ella Mae York, 78 year old Checotah resident entered eternal life on Monday, April 14, 2008 in McAlester, Oklahoma. She was born on Saturday, February 16, 1930 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Julius and Beatrice Merritt Wells. Ella Mae grew up in Okmulgee where she attended School. On January 1, 1947 she married Billy York in Okmulgee, Ok. Ella Mae worked as a Office Manager, Bookkeeper and Receptionist, and was best at being Mom. She worked for Green Country Health Care as a receptionist. She was an avid reader, and loved to play Bingo, and most of all spend time with her family. She was a member of the Baptist Faith. Ella Mae was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Sisters, Peggy Fleming and Carolyn Holder; her Brother, Raymond Cook, Jr. She is lovingly survived by her children, Marilyn Tarkington of Warner, Buddy York and his wife Carol of Checotah, Billie JackYork and his wife Marie of Sand Springs, Terry York of Checotah, Bob York and his wife Diana of Checotah, Donna Payne and her husband Jess of Morris and Jimmy York and his wife Karen of Ada. Her Grandchildren, Tammy and Matthew Longcrier of Warner, Michelle and Dan Andrews of Muskogee, Tony and Stacia York of Morris, Tonya and Mike Mosley of Sherwood, Ar., Rachele and James Schellhorn of Tulsa, Billy York of Sand Springs, Brian Sallee of Warner, Vanessa and Stephen Livingston of Weatherford, Jennifer York of Weatherford, Bobbi Dawn York of Checotah, Casey Story of Nowata, Jackie Story of Checotah, Matthew Payne and Aundy and Isaac Duclose, Summer York and Jeremy and Justin York. 13 Great-grandchildren. Sisters, Bonnie and Donald Shotwell of Eufaula, Sharon and Billy Clarkson of Pryor; Borthers, Jackie and Ida Beth Wells of Ca., Donald Dean and Carol Wells of Tulsa and Paul David and Beverly Cook of Beggs; Sister-in-law, Imogene and Melvin Clark of Drumright; Brother -in-law, Lloyd Holder of Ca. and Raymond Fleming of Eufaula and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 18, 2008 at First Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Larry Montgomery officiating. Committal Prayers and Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with Tony York, Jeremy York, Justin York, Billy York, James Hibbs, Casey Story serving as Casket Bearers. Jack Wells, Gene Lee, Bob Beets, Walter White, Jack Case, Jess Payne, Matthew Loncgcrier , and Danny Andrews will serve as Honorary Casket Bearers.
