Funeral services for Orpha Lou Carson were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 4, 2008 in the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria with Dr. Lee Weems officiating. A graveside service was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 5, 2008 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball.
Orpha Lou Carson, 84, departed this life on Thursday, May 1, 2008.
Orpha Lou was a native of DeRidder, Louisiana, but lived most of her life in Pineville, Louisiana. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Orpha received her nurses training at "Baptist Hospital" and her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Northwestern, Natchitoches.
She retired from the Veteran's Hospital in Alexandria. Orpha was very devoted to her family and will be missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy S. Carson; her three brothers, Malvin E. Wagnon, Ellis Wagnon, and J.D. Wagnon; her two sisters, Gertrude Dickens and Mary Burchfield.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Dr. Katherine E. Nugent of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; her sons, Billy Carson, Jr. and wife, Marcie of Reddell, Louisiana and Edward K. Carson and wife, Martha of Springfield, Missouri; her ten grandchildren, James and Kevin Nugent, Charles W. Carson, Chalain Jordon, Geri Colvin, and Amanda Brouillette, and Amanda, Danielle, Stephanie, and Carolyn Carson; her nine great grandchildren, Joel, Andrew, Katie, Brady, and Brian Nugent, Trinity and Rece Jordon and Wesley Carson.
