Elsie Laura Cizek, 93, Traer, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Services will be Wednesday, april 1, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Traer. Burial will be in the St. Paul Catholic Church Cemetery.
Elsie Laura Cizek was born on July 21, 1921, in Traer, the daughter of Edward and Mamie (Holubar) Yuska. She grew up on a farm north Traer and graduated from Traer High School.
On Nov. 9, 1942, Elsie was united in marriage to Fred E. Cizek at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in rural Clutier. Elsie and Fred made their home on a farm south of Traer and in Carrol Township. After retirement in 1985, the couple moved to Traer. Elsie was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and Carrol Township Homemakers. She was a past member of the Rosary Guild at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas with her friends, playing Bingo, gardening and cooking. Elsie enjoyed playing the accordion and played with the Czech Trio.
Elsie is survived by five children, Larry (Sonja) of Waukee, Bob (Judy) of Toledo, Dennis (Sandy) of Marshalltown, Ron (Julie) of Naperville, Ill., and Connie (Ron) Uhlenberg of Marshalltown; two sisters, Vivian Kvidera and Betty Jane Paustian both of Traer; a brother, Glenn Yuska of Traer; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Elsie is survived by five children, Larry (Sonja) of Waukee, Bob (Judy) of Toledo, Dennis (Sandy) of Marshalltown, Ron (Julie) of Naper
