Lawrence Hammond, 86, of Eldorado, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
He was born on Aug. 29, 1921, to Charles and Katie Hammond in Equality.
Lawrence was a loving father and grandfather and will be missed by his family. He worked as a welder at Caterpillar in Aurora. In his younger years Lawrence enjoyed fishing and playing pinochle.
He is survived by a daughter, Cecilia and Paul Porter of Equality; a son, Larry and Kim Hammond of Eldorado; two granddaughters, Ashley and Jeff Herrmann and Angela and Aaron Johnson of Eldorado; one sister, Doris Smith; two brothers, James and Doyle Hammond; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Carpenter; and three brothers, Elmer, Charles and Lon.
As per his wishes he was cremated and a graveside service will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery near Equality at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2008, with Father Ignatius Okonkwo officiating. Vickery Funeral Chapel in Equality will be in charge of services for Lawrence. Internet condolences may be sent to the Internet site www.vickeryfuneralchapel.com.
