Mr. Satcher, 91, of Lafayette, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2008 at the home of his daughter, Debbie Dial, in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Mr. Satcher was a military veteran. He was an honored veteran of World War II proudly serving in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre. Prior to his retirement, he drove a truck for Younger Brothers for 20 years. Mr. Satcher worked for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers at the Calcasieu Locks for 30 years. He retired once for 4 years and went back to finish his 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his 2 wives, Esther Beaver Satcher and Nola Nugent Satcher; his parents, William Barney and Edna Barker Satcher; his brother, Raymond Satcher and his sister, Nora Satcher.
Those left to cherish his memory include his two daughters, Darlene Denton of Lake Charles, and Debbie Dial of Lafayette, Louisiana; his faithful dog companion "Joe Joe" who never left his side; his four grandchildren, Tommy Davenport of Dayton, Texas, Libby Hardey of Lake Charles, Rachael Dial of Dallas, Texas and Beka Dial of Lafayette; his seven great grandchildren; his brother, Morris Dee Satcher of Dry Prong; his two sisters, Elder Ruth Brown of Ruston and Doris Watson of Alexandria and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Morris Ray Satcher, Lee Satcher, Tommy Davenport, Wayne Hardey, Jim Dial and Mark Arceneaux.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful nurses of Hospice of Acadiana and his sitter, Charlotte Fuselier of Lafayette for their kindness, love and compassion while being cared for at home in the loving hands of those he loved.
