William Henry Guyer, son of Alfred and Sarah Guyer, was born Oct 10, 1856, on the farm where he resided until death. Here he grew to manhood, receiving his education in the public school and fitted himself for his future life work.

He was united in marriage to Alice Cox on 2 Oct 1883.

To this union were born 5 sons, Harry, Lee, Raymond, Murray and Stanley.

From earliest infancy, he was trained by Christian parents but at the early age of 14 he was deprived of both father and mother.

At the age of 32, he renewed his covenant with God, dedicated his life to His service and received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. The next year he united with the Friends Church at Pleasant Grove, where he has ever since been a faithful member. He was a quiet, unassuming man, but he lived an open life and won the confidence of all who knew him. He possessed the sterling qualities of integrity and truthfulness and his life before the world was above reproach. In the home he was a kind and loving father looking carefully after the temporal and spiritual needs of the family. He did not allow the cares of life or the pursuit of worldly gain to hinder him in the service of his Master and the church. Because of his faithfulness he was chosen to fill the most responsible places in the church, having filled the place of both elder and overseer.

He met his untimely death last Thursday evening and while he never regained consciousness so he could tell his loved ones of his future prospects, yet the life he lived bears abundant testimony of his being safely housed with God.

He leaves a wife, 5 sons, 2 daughter in laws, 1 grandchild, 1 brother, 3 sisters and a host of friends to mourn his loss.

Funeral services were conducted at the Friends Church Sunday morning by Revs. Duncan Newlin and Gertrude M Reiner, being largely attended.

Interment was made in the Guyer Cemetery.
