Blanch L. Chetlain, 91, of Paris died March 31, 2004, at her residence.

Private funeral services were held at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 15, in Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Miller and the Rev. Ray Starnes officiating. Musical arrangements were furnished by Lana Prichard and Lisa Frazier. Graveside services followed in Greenwood Cemetery in Galena, Ill., with Pastor Fredrick Baltz of St. Matthew Lutheran Church officiating. Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.

She was born May 25, 1912, in Troup, the daughter of Robert Austin and Ida Marshall Looney. She married Col. Fredrick Hamilton Chetlain on Nov. 8, 1944, in Dallas. She was an elementary teacher in the Greater Saint Louis area and at one time president of the Graham School PTA. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, president of United Methodist Women, member of Ester Circle, New Era and Upper Room Sunday school classes. She was also active in Girl Scouts of America when her daughter, Charlotte, was active.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Fredrick Hamilton Chetlain; and a daughter, Gloria McPherson, on Oct. 1, 1995.

At the time of her death she was survived by her daughter, Charlotte Kelsey of Seymour, Ill; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
