Son of Lewis Jarrell and Elizabeth Lively. Elizabeth was from Amherst County, Virginia; Lewis was from Virginia as well, but I have not found where yet. Lewis and Elizabeth married in North Carolina and then moved into Tennessee eventually settling near present-day Smyrna.
James is husband of Mary Anne Nevil Jarrell. James was a Saddler in Rutherford County, TN in 1850. By 1870 he was a plow manufacturer in Humboldt, TN, making a plow for which his brother William has a patent. In 1880 in Arkansas, James was a furniture maker in Fayetteville, Washington County.
James's siblings, Sarah, William and Lucy, never married but lived with James and Mary Anne all their lives.
