Robert William Abell, 94, of rural Roann, Indiana, died Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 8:51pm at the Wabash County Hospital. He was born January 10, 1914 in Devils Lake, North Dakota, to William Samuel and Dessie (Robbins) Abell.
Robert married Edith E. Yarian in Lebanon, Kentucky, on November 9, 1940. He was a farmer, and lived on the farm in rural Roann since 1940. Robert was a member of the Roann First Brethren Church and liked to fish.
He is survived by his wife, Edith E. Abell of Roann; his two sons, Darryl Abell of Peru, and Dale (Ursula) Abell of Roann; two grandchildren, Phillip (Kristi) Abell of Evansville, and William Abell of Roann; his sister, Betty Giltner of Bradenton, Florida; and his brother, Wayne Abell of Prescott, Arizona. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Funeral services will be held at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 335 S. Chippewa Road, Roann, on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 1:00pm with Pastor Phil Medsger officiating. Burial will be in Roann Community Cemetery, Roann. Friends may call 4-8pm, Monday, February 25, and one hour prior to the service, Tuesday, at the funeral home.
