SIGMUND APPELMAN SUCCUMBS IN CHINA

News of the death of Sigmund Appelman, 26 years of age, has been received from Shanghai, China, by his father, Samuel Appelman, 646 Ninth East street. Death was due to appendicitis. The young man was a skillful musician and had been playing with an orchestra in Shanghai when he was taken ill.

He is survived by his parents and two sisters, Miss Sylvia Appelman and Mrs. Max Pepper. He was a member of Provo lodge No. 489, B.P.O.E The body will be brought to Salt Lake.

Note - Original interred in Baikal Road Cemetery, Shanghai, China. The Report of American Citizens Abroad notes that his "remains to be sent to the United States later."

His death is recorded in Salt Lake County, Utah US Deaths with an indication that the informant was "Transportation Papers from China" , place of burial Montefiore Cemetery and date of burial March 7, 1923.
