Our wonderful, precious mom, Charlotte Wick, 90, a long time resident of Wenatchee, died Friday evening, March 14, 2008, at her son's home in Stevensville, MT. She was born in Cody, WY, to Charlie and Arvilla Hill, February 19, 1918, the oldest of three daughters. In 1927, the family moved to Wenatchee, where her father was employed by Stone & Webster. Charlotte graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1937, and then completed her education at Wenatchee Beauty School. After graduating from beauty school, she bought herself a beauty shop in Ephrata, WA. Mom had the distinction of being the only woman member of the Ephrata Chamber of Commerce at that time. Three years later, Charlotte noticed a handsome, blue-eyed fellow who kept parking his car in front of her shop -- her future husband, Harold Wick. They were married at her parent's home in Monitor, WA, October 5, 1941, and they remained married for 54 years, until his death, March 16, 1997. Harold worked for the FFA and as a result, they made their home in several places, including Dubois, ID, Everett, WA, Custer, MT, Whitehall, MT, Baker City, OR and finally returned to Wenatchee in 1960. A true Christian lady who was kind and thoughtful to everyone, Mom devoted herself to her husband and children in providing us a safe and happy home. She was a talented artist and we treasure her creations. We loved coming home from school to the delightful aroma of her cinnamon rolls and her cheery "hello." "Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her." Proverbs 31:28 Charlotte was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and served as Worthy Mother Advisor for Rainbow Girls in Whitehall, MT. She was a long time, active member of the First United Methodist Church in Wenatchee, until ill health forced her to slow down. Even after a series of strokes left her physically limited, Mom continued to pray for her family and friends. After her first major stroke, Mom made her home with Suzan and later lived with her son, David and his family in Stevensville. Jaime took excellent car of Mom in her decline and we are grateful for the care and support Jaime gave her mother-in-law. Her husband, parents, sister, Bette Jane Aaron and her son-in-law, Jerry Monesmith, preceded her in death. She is survived by one sister, Mary Lou Scaman of Longbeach; her children, Suzan (and Marion) Beeson of Wenatchee, Charles (and Ginger) Wick of Darlington, MD, Christine (and Larry) Holden of Auburn, David (and Jaime) Wick of Stevensville, MT and Robert Wick of Yakima. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kristin Monesmith, Matt (and Tamara) Monesmith, Harrison (and Kim) Wick, Virginia Wick, Eliza Wick, Eleanor Wick, Alex Holden, Kyle Wick, Dylan Wick and Rachel Wick; her great-granddaughters, Caryn and Steffani Monesmith; and numerous nieces and nephews. "Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal home in Heaven." II Cor 5:1 A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at the Wenatchee City Cemetery, with Rev. Kel Groseclose officiating.
