Published obituary: Graveside services were conducted last Friday [03.15.1990] for W.L. Baker, Jr., 75, a former Madill resident who died [Tuesday] March 6 [1990] at his home near Checotah. Lyndol Adams officiated for services at Woodberry Memorial Cemetery. Service arrangements were directed by Watts Funeral Home. Mr. Baker was born [Monday] Nov. 2, 1914, at Gordonville, Tex. He was reared in Willis [Oklahoma] and was later employed with Madill Lumber Co. and Sinclair Oil Co. in Madill. He later moved to Oklahoma City where he was employed with Gilt Edge Dairy until his retirement in 1980. He moved to Checotah following his retirement. He was a member of the Madill First Baptist Church. His survivors include two brothers, William H. of Durant and Harold Baker of Oklahoma City, and four sisters, Mary Bennett of Tishomingo, Nadine Bryant and Sally Geouge of Huntsville, Ala., and Enah Schmitt of Checotah. Another sister, Marguerite Ables, of Madill died recently.
