Barbara J. Long, age 80 of Darlington, WI passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2008 at her home.
She was born on August 21, 1927 in Belmont, WI to William A. and Margaret A. (Jones) Eustice.
Barbara graduated from Belmont High School in 1946. She was united in marriage to H.A. "Preach"
Long on March 27, 1947 by her father-in-law Rev. Dennis A. Long, at her parent''s home in
Belmont. She and her husband moved to Fairchild, WI and later to Lancaster, WI. In 1954 they
moved to Darlington where Barbara was employed as a bookkeeper for Lafayette County Co-op Oil
for more than thirty years before retiring.
Barbara is survived by three children: Thomas (Renee) Long of New Orleans, LA, Rebecca (fiancé
Thomas Wakefield) Long of Mequon, WI and Timm Long of Argyle, WI; one brother: Sherman
Eustice of Belmont; one sister: Bernice Aurit of Dodgeville, WI; five grandchildren: Heather
Donnow, Brett and Daniel Long, and Heath and Jesse Smith. She was preceded in death by her
parents, and her husband on August 25, 2005.
Barbara was a member of Darlington United Methodist Church and it''s UMW. She enjoyed the
outdoors and could be seen daily walking through town. Most important to Barbara was her family.
She loved taking care of them and watching them grow. Barbara will be sadly missed and fondly
remembered by all who knew her.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington with Reverend Nate Whiteside of First Baptist Church in Darlington officiating. Burial will be at Belmont Cemetery, Belmont, WI. A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 10 from 10:00 AM until time of services at Erickson Funeral Home.
