Obituary

Ellen Hasting was born August 12, 1889, and died May 24, 1913, being 22 years, 9 months and 12 days old. She was united in marriage to Burlie Thorn February 12, 1908. To this union were born two children, Jennie Arlene and Francis Geraldine. She was converted at the early age of fifteen, and although a constant sufferer for over two years she never complained during it all with patience, only wanting to live for the sake of her little girls. In her last illness her faith in God never wavered, urging her friends to live right and meet her in heaven. She talked with perfect calmness, giving instructions for her funeral, naming the minister she wanted to preach, the songs she wanted sung, and the text for the funeral sermon. At different times when she thought she was going, she called the members of the family to her and told them good bye, telling them to meet her in heaven.

She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, two children, her parents, one brother, two sisters, and a host of relatives and friends. Ellen is not dead but sleeping safe in the arms of Jesus. The funeral services were held at the home at 10:00 Monday, May 26, conducted by Rev. J.M. Fitzgerald, after which the body was laid to rest in the Indian Valley Cemetery.

We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted us during the sickness, death and burial of our darling Ellen. - Burlie Thorn and children.
