Robert Carl Goodenow


Robert Carl Goodenow, 61, of Summersville was taken home May 25, 2008, following a long illness. He was born in Detroit, Mich., on Sept. 14, 1946, to the late Ralph Jonathon and Martha Louise Locke Goodenow.


Bob graduated from Grosse Pointe High School in Grosse Pointe, Mich., in 1965, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1969 where he was trained in laboratory technology and served on the USS Repose during the Vietnam War. After his discharge he continued his education at Wayne County Community College and Wayne State University in Detroit.


He worked as a medical technologist for 34 years in hospitals in Michigan and 13 1/2 years at Summersville Memorial Hospital, and then failing health led him to retirement in 2003. He was a member of the Catholic faith and was a born again Christian.


Bob is survived by his wife of 37 years, Marilyn; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Goodenow, Karen Martha Goodenow; grandson, Robert Alexander Goodenow; sister, Mary Jo Spada (Steve); brother, James Goodenow; loving aunts and an uncle; and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral service will be at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, at the White Funeral Home in Summersville with the Rev. Jim Malick and the Rev. Joe Brown officiating.


Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
