The following is about David's dad, John Fell and his mom Jane: Just a month before John died while on the sinking of the SS Central America...his baby son had just turned one year old. Jane traveled back to Iowa to be with the comfort and support of her family and relatives. The Baby Albert died soon after on November 5, 1857.
Three years later, in 1860, Jane married the widower of five years, Daniel Fiedler. Jane came from a large family of twelve children, she being the second eldest. A few of those aunts and uncles were close to David's age, and the three sons of Daniel provided older brothers; and three years later David, at age six, would become the big brother to a baby sister, and not long after two more little sisters would come into his life.
David married Sarah "Saddie" Elizabeth Brawley, the daughter of a very successful farmer in Iowa. Although I have not learned the date of her mother's death, I believe that it was after her mom died that things changed for Saddie. Her dad was in his senior years and no doubt without his helpmate, taking care of a large farm and rising taxes, he looked for solutions. Saddie had become an artist, and David had become an artist as well. As it turned out, Saddie's dad married a lady that taught art.
Before David and Saddie moved to South Dakota, their son John Brawley Fell was born January 3, 1876 at Fairfield, Jefferson County, Iowa. David and Saddie were among the early homesteaders in America Twp and Eagle Twp, Brule Cty, S Dakota.
After Saddie died, David moved back to Iowa to be reunited with so many relatives, including his mom who was widowed in 1902. He eventually married Mrs. Emily A. (Veburg) Cremer in 1919 at Jefferson County, Iowa. They were married ten years and she survived him.
