Raymond W. Putt, 87, of Schuylkill Haven, died Thursday, May 9, 2008 at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

Born in Robesonia, Nov. 2, 1920, he was a son of the late John and Sarah Katzaman Putt.

He was the widower of Lola Seiple Putt, who died Jan. 9, 1986.

He was a self-employed TV repairman and was on the housing authority of the Schuylkill Hi-Rise, Schuylkill Haven, and also worked at Alcoa, Cressona, many years ago.

Ray was a truant officer for Blue Mountain School District for many years.

He served in the Army during World War II, where he received four bronze stars.

He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Schuylkill Haven.

He was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Jr., on March 16, 1998.

Surviving are daughters, Susan M., wife of Carl Eidem, Auburn, Beverly A., wife of Douglas Hoy, Schuylkill Haven, Diane L. Weaver, Schuylkill Haven, and Carol M., wife of Ronald Arnold, Georgetown, Md.; a son, William J., husband of Debra Putt, Schuylkill Haven; brothers, George Putt, Pine Grove, and John Putt, Lebanon; a sister, Arlene Elkins; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Religious services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday from Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., 25 E. Main St., Schuylkill Haven, with the Rev. Janet Lewis officiating. Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

The family requests donations be made to St. John's United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 121 E. Main St., P.O. Box 118, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.
