Sherman married Olive Sweet in 1899 and had 1 son, George. Olive died in 1905 and Sherman married Anna L Brown abt 1909, and had 2 daughters, Athlene and Esther. Sherman spent his boyhood in North Judson Indiana where the family lived for several years. Sherman came to South Bend in 1896. The entire family moved there in 1898. Sherman was employed in the Studebaker Factory where they made wagons and buggies, later was employed at The South Bend Watch Co. from beginning to the time it closed for thiry some years and then finally retired. Mr. Naftzger lived in River Park practically sixty years. He built one of the first homes on then known as 8th Street, later changed to 25th Street. At that time, River Park was a town of itself, later was annexed to South Bend. He served as one of the towns officials of River Park. With others was instrumental in the building of the First Methodist Church in the community in 1897. The second building in 1909 and the third in 1955. He was instrumental with other in having the city of South Bend improve Pottowamie Park which was originally a fair ground.
