John William "J.W." Alexander, 67 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Saturday, August 12th, 1989 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky following a long illness.
J.W. was born in Burkesville, Kentucky on March 4th, 1922, son of the late Harry Alexander Sr. and Mattie Sue Grove Alexander. He was a truck driver for Somerset Stone Company and an United States Army veteran of World War II.
J.W. was survived by his loving wife, Willena Elizabeth Stigall Alexander; one son, Kenneth Alexander of Somerset, Kentucky; one daughter, Yvonne Pennington of Somerset, Kentucky; three brothers, Joe Alexander of Somerset, Kentucky, Thomas Lee Alexander and Howard Alexander, both of Maywood, Illinois; one sister, Laura Victoria Alexander Grider of Somerset, Kentucky; three grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Alexander, who departed this life on December 22nd, 1955 and Mattie Alexander, who departed this life on October 22nd, 1956; and one brother, Harry Alexander Jr.
Visitations were held on Wednesday, August 16th, 1989 after 6:00 p.m. at the Pulaski Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 17th, 1989 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Revs. Everhart Walker and V.C. Edwards officiating.
Burial followed in the Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky.
