Mauri Eugene Dolan peacefully passed away on March 20, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born in Paonia, Colorado, to Vernon Eugene Dolan and Mary Ellen Dolan Coffee on June 30, 1951. He graduated from Sandia High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and became a certified welder at Albuquerque's Technical Vocational Institute.

Mauri's main career was being a welder and fabricator. He carried that expertise with him into his four years with the Navy, where he welded submarines and any other vessels needing repair. He was also a long-haul trucker, an elevator/escalator maintenance man for Otis Elevator, he owned and operated Colorado West Welding and Fabrication in Montrose, Colorado. When he worked for Recla Metals, he participated in local projects, including the new Iron Mike, the iron structures over the tables in Cerise Park, and many bicycle lock up posts you see around town. Abels Ace Hardware was his last post before retiring in 2020.

He was also a talented builder. He could build and create anything from anything. Some of his personal projects included the to-scale model of the Rio Grande No. 268 Locomotive, two full size motorcycles, and just last week, with the assistance of his great-nephew, Garret Landon, finished his final masterpiece, a bright yellow midget sprint car. Mauri loved Harley motorcycles, car racing of all kinds, fishing/camping, playing the guitar and singing, and snow skiing. He was self-taught to play the guitar and ski. He made his first pair of snow skis and started in his backyard.

Mauri, "You had a wild side, but you also had amazing grace. We hope you hit those gold streets on two wheels. Give heaven some hell." - Hardy

His memory lives on with his sisters, Roanna Griffin, Adele Frangos (Bill); nieces and nephews: Crystal Goins (Terry), Adam Frangos (Colleen), Vanessa Simmons (Jason); great-nieces and nephews, Garret Landon, Sierra McAdams, Quinn and Eleni Frangos, Jaxen, Olivia and Xander Simmons; cousins, Vickie Butts (Mike), Diana Globoker; and his aunt, Carol Dolan.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Howard and Dorothy Moon, Maxine and Earl Day and Sylvia and Emmett Boyer; his parents; sister, Raonna Spradling; niece, Danielle Dolan; uncle, Jim Dolan; and cousins, Tim and David Dolan.

Services will be at Circle 3 Cowboy Church, 62885 LaSalle Rd on March 29 at 11 a.m., and burial will follow at Valley Lawn Cemetery.
