Shirley Mae Boggs Artis, 70, of Charleston went home to be with the Lord Feb. 2, 2008, after a short illness.

She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church and was actively involved in church services at Charleston Arbors. She was a waitress in the Charleston area for a number of years. She was a giver to her family and community.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ethel Boggs, and an infant daughter, Jamey.
She is survived by her children, Deborah D. Phillips and husband, Jerry, of Charleston, Shannon Martinez and husband, Mingo, of Dilley, Texas, Candis LeeAnn Artis of Charleston, Jim Lee Artis and wife, Angela, of South Charleston, and Carl "Eddie" Pauley and wife, Debara, of Charleston; 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. Bill Bartlett officiating. Burial will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Youth Fund, Maranatha Baptist Church, 1 Maranatha Acres, Charleston, WV 25312.
