TAYLOR FLORENCE M. Of Rescue, CA, born September 27, 1919, in Oakland, CA. Died October 13, 2002, at Manor Care in Citrus Heights, CA. Predeceased by her husband of 22 years Eldon "Al" C. Taylor (1979), her parents Mary and Manuel Fernandes, her brother Henry Fernandes and her sisters and brothers-in-law Mary and Irvin Bettencourt, Lydia and Charles Tamagri, Hilda and Bill Herinx and Miguel Cunha. Survived by her sisters-in-law Margaret Fernandes and Sylvia Pettit and four generations of nieces and nephews (100 at last count). She will be missed by her family and many friends. A 45-year member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Sgt. George Chapman VFW Post 7636, Hayward, CA and the Live Oaker Penny Club of Rescue, CA. An Oakland A's Season Ticket Holder and avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers. She enjoyed dancing to the music of the "Big Band" sound. Florence and her husband moved to Rescue, CA, in 1971 after she retired from Montgomery Wards. Prior to that she lived in the Bay Area (Oakland, San Leandro and Hayward). Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Grissom's San Lorenzo Chapel/Mortuary, 267 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo. The vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. John's Catholic Church, 264 E. Lewelling Blvd., San Lorenzo.
