ALBANY -- Maurine Sasse Evans, 96, died Friday, August 10, 2001 at Rosewood Gardens, East Greenbush, NY. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of the late Emil and Edith Huddleston Sasse. Mrs. Evans has been a resident of Albany since graduation from the Universities of Utah and California. A former teacher she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, the American Association of University Women and Albany Country Club. She was one of the founders and first librarian of the Colonie Town Library. Maurine was the wife of the late Horace S. Evans, former Director of Flood Control of New York State. She is survived by a son, John Taylor Evans of New York City. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Centerville, Utah.
