Alvin Genet, retired electrician

Medina – Alvin J. Genet, 94, an electrician, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999 in the Orchard Manor Nursing Home.

Born April 30, 1904, in Wolcottsville, he was the son of August and Rose (Raduns) Genet.

Mr. Genet was an electrician and saw smith at Loud and Wendel in Middleport, retiring in 1969 after 25 years of service. He also worked at Skill Saw Manufacturing, Randleigh Fars in Lockport and the Carborundum Company in Niagara Falls.

He was a charter member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church of Lockport and served as its first treasurer. He also served several terms as church elder.

A former Lockport resident, he lived in Medina since 1979.

Mr. Genet enjoyed repairing Clocks.

He was the husband of Nora (Maass) Genet, who died Feb. 13, 1972, and Ruth (Steblein) Genet, who died Jan. 30, 1974. He was the father of the late Charles Genet; the stepfather of the late Larry Lake and the brother of the late John Genet and Roy Genet.

Surviving are three daughters, Shirley A. (Everett) Thompson of Lockport, Betty J. Alen of Barker and Catherine L. Genet of Medina; a daughter-in-law, Doreen Genet of North Tonawanda; two stepdaughters, Marcia (James) Giegerick of Canandaigua and Karen Mattucci of Lockport; a sister, Helen (Donald) Tonenniessen of Orlando, Fla.; a brother Albert (Carol) Genet of Royalton; a dear friend, Julia Brown of Middleport; 12 Grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Sherrie Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main St., Gasport. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Olive Lutheran Church with Willaim Carney officiating.

Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton.
