Doris Mahnke, 50, dies


The funeral for Doris E. Mahnke, 50, was Tuesday afternoon at the Peet Mortuary Chapel. Charles Warner of Douglas officiated.

She died Dec. 31 at the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.

She was born April 21, 1927 to August John and Nora E. Pavlacky in Lusk. She attended school in Ainsworth, Neb., and graduated from Lusk High School.

Sept. 15, 1946 she married Arthur W. Mahnke in Lusk.

She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses. She loved to play the guitar and sing and she also enjoyed horseback riding.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, two brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Donna and Diane of Lusk; five brothers and sisters, Myrrel Vodopich of La Mirada, Calif., Marvin Pavlacky of Sacramento, Calif., Mildred Kellogg of Grants Pass, Ore., Kenneth Pavlacky of Torrington, Erwin Pavlacky of Mountain Home, Idaho; and other nieces and nephew, relatives and friends.

Minerva Watson was the organist and Berie Lee Rumney the soloist. The songs were "Keep Your Eyes on the Prize" and "Jehovah Is My Shepherd."

Pallbearers were Curtis Atkinson, Dennis Isenhart, Gary Halsey, Randall Butler, Paul Christensen, Stanley Berkland, Russell Simon and Dallas Swisher.

Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the Niobrara County Nursing Home.
