Blair David Craine, Jr., 89, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2011 in his Elizabethtown home surrounded by his family.
Born in Altoona, he was the son of the late Blair David, Sr. and Beulah (Lytle) Craine.
Blair was a 1940 graduate of Bellwood - Antis High School. As a member of the school track team, he held the record for the 100 Yard Dash which stood for over fifty years. In high school, he was known as "Speed Demon" for his speed on the track and "another Fred Astaire" for his ability to dance. He graduated from Art School in Akron, Ohio.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Blair married Leah Lucinda Garman on April 20, 1946.
A Free Lance Commercial Artist, he retired in 1984 from M & M Mars, Elizabethtown. He previously worked for Superior Sign, Elizabethtown and several other area businesses.
Blair enjoyed playing golf, traveling, painting, and Big Band music.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters: Josephine Slesser and Dorothy Waite; and, his brothers: Lee Cunningham, Raymond Cunningham, and James Craine.
Blair is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years: Leah Craine; his daughters: Lenora C. Dukehart of Baltimore, Maryland, Leah Mary Craine of Elizabethtown, and Blair Etta (Mark) Webb of Union City; his son: B. David Craine III of Columbia; his grandson: Blair David Craine IV; and, his sisters: Sara (George P.) George and Arlene (Alvin) Brady.
There will be no Viewing.
Family and Friends will be received from 05:00 - 07:00 PM on Thursday, May 19, 2011 in John S. Sell Memorial Chapel, Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. Memorial Services will begin at 07:00 PM.
