David "Herbie" J. Thomas, age 74 of Marysville, passed way on December 7, 2023 in Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital, after a long illness. He was born on February 20, 1949 in Port Huron to the late Harold and Eleanor Thomas.


He married Jeanne M. St. Coeur on September 14, 1968 in Port Huron.


David served honorably in the United States Army and did a tour in Vietnam. He enjoyed gardening, being on the water and spending time with his family and granddaughters. He was a jack of all trades, he obtained his contracting license, was a manufacturing supervisor and was a builder. He was co-owner of Jeanne Thomas School of Gymnastics and co-founder of the Blue Water Volley Grass Festival.


He is survived by his wife, Jeanne M. Thomas, children; Paul Thomas, Aaron (Shelley) Thomas and Noel Thomas, and his two granddaughters; Isabella and Ashlynn.


He was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Thomas.


A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11:00 am in St. Joseph Catholic Church - 1331 7th Street, Port Huron. Father Brad Forintos will officiate. The memorial visitation will be from 10:30am until the time of mass.

In lieu of flowers - memorial contributions can be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.
