Obituary for Mrs. Elvira Juanita Abernathy
Elvira J. Abernathy was born April 4, 1932, to Ida Rayner in Camden, Arkansas. Elvira received her formal education at Carver High School.
Elvira accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She was baptized at
Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Camden, Arkansas. After relocating to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she united with Union Hill Baptist Church. She later
became a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang lead soprano in the choir, taught Sunday school, bible study, and was President of the mission. She was dedicated to her family, church, and the Lord.
Elvira was united in holy matrimony with Will T. Abernathy. Their union was blessed with four children.Elvira was employed with Bishop Woods for several years. In her leisure, she enjoyed spending time with her family, baking, singing in the choir, having fellowship, and worshiping the Lord.
Elvira Abernathy departed this life on September 17, 2020. She was receded in death by her husband, Will T. Abernathy; her mother, Ida Rayner; her sister, Mildred Rayner; her brothers, Wiley Torrence, and Jerry Rayner; and her son, Michael Abernathy.She leaves to cherish her memory: four children, Ardelia (Jonathan) Swiams, Bernard Abernathy, Teddy Williams, of Milwaukee, WI and Anthony Abernathy of Dallas, TX; two sisters-in-law; Emma Jean Chambers of Milwaukee, WI, and Joyce Rayner of Bossier, LA;
brother-in-law; Van (Eunice) Abernathy, of Milwaukee, WI; and a host of nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
