She was born January 7, 1930, in Carlinville, IL to Richard Briggs & Helen (Pfaff ) Briggs. She married Edward L. Ruffatto on May 21, 1950 in Carlinville, IL. He preceded her in death on September 22, 2012. She was an office manager for Community Family Practice in Benld, IL. Shirley was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Gillespie, IL. She is survived by her children, Jim Ruffatto (fiancée, Tess) of Chatham, IL, Janice (Terry) Allan of Gillespie, IL, Jack (Vonda) Ruffatto of Plainview, IL, Jennifer (Darrin) Peterson of Gillespie, IL, 12 grandchildren , 7 great grandchildren , brothers, Ted Briggs of Sparland, IL, and Bob Briggs of Springfield, IL. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, grandson in infancy, Eli Peterson, daughter in law , Karen Ruffatto and brother, Ron Briggs. Private family services will be held.
