Stephen G. Gaydos of Swoyersville, Pennsylvania, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2005, in the VA Hospital, Plains PA.

Born in Kingston PA, son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Hovath Gaydos, he was a life resident of Swoyersville and educated in the Swoyersville schools.

Mr. Gaydos was employed for 25 years at Brocca Garages, and for eight years at Adams Garages. He was the owner of Gaydos Greenhouses in Swoyersville for over 65 years. He was an avid gardener and expert plant grower.

He was a member of Holy trinity Church, Swoyersville.

Mr. Gaydos was a veteran of WWII, serving in Sicily and Africa. He received the Purple Heart in 1943 for injuries received in El Guetar, Tunisia. He was an expert with the Carbine III as well as a Machine Gunner.

Predeceased by his parents; his brothers, John, Joseph, George and Michael; and sisters, Mary Evanich, Margaret Cocuzza, Helen Gula, and Elizabeth Gaydos, his survivors included his wife of 58 years, the former Helen Gulla; sons, Stephen J. Gaydos of Clermont FL and Robert at home; daughter (and son-in-law) Anne Marie (& Stephen Hunter, Sr.) of Swoyersville; and a sister, Dorothy Szwast of Swoyersville; grandchildren, Lisa Leshinski of Plymouth PA, Jason Kozel of South Carolina, Stephen Wiedman of Plymouth PA, Carissa and Stephen Hunter of Swoyersville; and seven great-grandchildren.
