Feeling his end near, he dictated a letter for Mgr Le Hunsec, Superior General of the Spiritan Fathers and for Mgr Le Roy, former Vicar Apostolic of Gabon. After a short illness, strengthened by the last sacraments received in admirable serenity, he fell asleep in the peace of the Lord on January 14, 1929. The funeral was a beautiful testimony to the magnificent sympathy of the clergy and the faithful as well as the civil authority for this great missionary Bishop, who died at the age of 82, after 60 years and 4 months of religious life in the Congregation of the Fathers of the Holy Spirit.
