Louis J. Diem, 81, Claimed by Death After Brief Illness
Louis J. Diem, 81, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hebert Longmore, 1120 Woodlawn St., Saturday afternoon after a brief illness.
A lifelong resident of Scranton, he was head waiter at the old Scranton House for many years. Later he conducted a store at Clarks Green. He has been retired for some time. He was a member of the Schiller Lodge, F&AM, and Robert Burns Lodge, IOOF.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Longmore and and Mrs. Gertrude Seward, Avenel, N. J.; a niece, Miss Marie Diem, and two nephews, George Diem, Lake Ariel, and Louis Diem, Scranton, and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be held from the home Tuesday at 2 p.m. Interment, Abington Hills Cemetery. Friends may call at the home after 7 p.m. today.
