Carole Elaine Uehlinger Spell Bastian-Barr died peacefully at her Leesville home on Sunday afternoon after a long battle with cancer of the appendix.


Her beloved husband, William "Bill" Barr and dearest friend, Louise Riley, were by her bedside when she took her final, gentle breath and departed her earthly bonds for more beautiful vistas to behold.

Carole was born in Pilot Point, Denton County, Texas on June 7, 1955. She was a staunch proponent of adoption as she herself had been adopted by Sydni (Jackie) Olene Stockard Uehlinger of Denton, Texas and John (Jack) August Uehlinger of Corpus Christie, Texas,


Carole is survived by her husband, Bill of the home; four sons and daughter-in-laws, James M. Spell of St. Louis, Mo., John E. Spell of Kansas City, Kansas, David R. Spell of Whitmire, SC and Eric D. Spell of Mustang, Oklahoma; step-daughters Kimberly Barr St. Angelo of Texas and Shane M. Barr of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren, Amaris, Azria and Zarek Burwell all of Houston, Lilly Spell of St. Louis, Missouri, Kaitlin J. and Kaylee Spell, both of Whitmire, SC and Dylan Grimes of Florida; sisters, Janna Caywood of Beaumont, Texas and Nina Betty Landolt of Michigan, and nieces.
