Leo Alfred, Sr., 89, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2000, in a Baytown Nursing Home.

Born July 15, 1910, in Morrow, LA, he was a 58-year resident of Barrett Station and was a member of and usher at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his spouse, Lena (Guillory) Alfred; sons, Joseph R. Alfred and Baley Alfred; and parents, Reme and Corine Bushnell Alfred.

He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Leo Jr. and Helen Alfred, Ertis and Celess Alfred, Louis and Shirley Alfred, Riley and Melinda Alfred, Lawrence and Cassie Alfred; daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Albert Brooks, Mary D. Merritt, Audrey J. Nelson, Adrian and Ronald Brooks, Wyona and Donell Williams; brother, Fatnor Alfred of Louisiana; sisters, Octavia Dancy of Prairie View, Vicky Linton of Houston, Corine Joshua of Galveston; 48 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Thursday at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church, with burial at SPJST in Barrett Station.
