Garland Ervan Crowder, age 78, of Seneca, Missouri, passed away on April 12, 2024, just one day shy of his 79th birthday. He was born to Omar Vernon Crowder and Pauline Hope (Comstock) Crowder on April 13, 1945, in Seneca, MO.


Garland had a remarkable journey in life. He graduated from Neosho High School in 1963 and then embarked on a four-year stint playing minor league baseball for the New York Yankees after being drafted. Following his baseball career, Garland transitioned to managing Edward Hines Lumber Co. in Springfield, MO, and later in Tulsa, OK. After his retirement, he enjoyed tending to his beef cattle on the farm.


In his leisure time, Garland had a passion for coon hunting, fishing, and playing slow-pitch softball. He found joy in these activities and cherished the camaraderie they brought.


On November 10, 1963, Garland married the love of his life, at New Salem Baptist Church; whom survives him. Garland is preceded in death by his parents and six siblings. He is also survived by one sister, three children, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
