DUNLUGAS LAIRD DIES AT 77
WITH the death yesterday at his home near Turriff of Major Sir Robert A. Abercromby of Dunlugas, ninth Baronet of Birkenbog, a cousin in the Canary Islands succeeds to the baronetcy. He is lan George Abercromby (47), of Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife. But last night it could not be confirmed at Dunlugas if the new baronet would be travelling to the North-east to pay his last respects. A prominent landowner, fishing proprietor, and community worker in Banffshire, Sir. Robert, who was 77, had not been well for some time. He will be cremated to-morrow forenoon and a service will be held later in the day at Turriff St Congan's Episcopal Church, Sir Robert was married three times. Lady Abercromby died last year and he is survived by his stepdaughter, Miss Alexandra (Bimbo) Lawrence, a professional photographer. [Aberdeen Press and Journal - Friday 20 October 1972, p.1]
