Kay S. Beckstead has gone fishing, Sept. 13, 1999. He loved those things life in the outdoors has to offer, particularly hunting, fishing, and trap shooting. Born August 4, 1922, the son of George Beckstead and Chloa VanWagenen. Kay is survived by his wife, Jean; and children, Gary (Cheryl), Cheri (Mike), Tami (Brett), and Lyn (Bruce); and sisters, Mary, Joyce (Bob), and Janice (Jack); 12 grandchildren.
His life's career began as a life insurance and equities salesman, and later, with his love and expertise in the outdoors, led to opportunities as a sporting goods representative. Devoted husband and father, he has great joy in the accomplishments and dealings of his children and grandchildren, supporting them in activities from dance to baseball and missions. Kay has been struggling the last few years with heart problems which ultimately caused complications leading to his passing. Even though future outdoor experiences have been cut short, he enjoyed a full and honorable life. Kay was not only a straight shooter on the trap range, but also in life. He has a firm testimony in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He will be missed greatly. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999 at the Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Drive at 11 a.m. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary and Thursday one hour prior to services. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
