CHESTERHILL - Albert LeeRoy Goins, 77, of Athens, died at 12:35 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home, The Plains.
He was born May 24, 1929, in Eagleport, the son of the late Willis and Flossie Dalton Goins Sr. He was a factory worker at BF Goodrich in Marietta and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a Protestant by faith, loved to attend many different churches and was a member of the DAV in Zanesville.
Surviving are two brothers, Charles Goins of Zanesville and Willis Goins Jr. of Lexington, N.C.; and five sisters, Irene Flowers of Stewart, Elsie Coles and Bessie Hill of Blue Rock, Helen Holbert and Edna Fagain of Columbus.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Danzel Goins; and a sister, Jessie Goins.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at the Stone-Matheney Funeral Home, Chesterhill, and one hour prior to services at the church.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at the Mount Hermon Church with Pastor John Butcher officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hermon Cemetery with graveside military services.
