Carol C. Brewer, 83, of Lamesa passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2008, in Lubbock. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at the Second Baptist Church in Lamesa, with Rev. Rush Coffman and Bro. Clifton Igo officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2008, in Groom, with Missionary Tom Brewer officiating, under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation was held at the funeral home Monday, May 19, 2008, from 6-8 p.m.
Carol was born on Aug. 4, 1924, in El Dorado, Okla., to Robert and Edna Brewer. He served in the merchant marines. He married Beth Montgomery on Aug. 29, 1948, in Lamesa. Carol was a very dedicated and successful farmer. Throughout his career he farmed in Arkansas, Groom, and Dell City. He retired in 1979 and made many friends traveling and enjoying Blue Grass Festivals. He also enjoyed meeting friends and spending the winter months in the Rio Grande Valley. Carol was a loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by two sons and three daughters, Tommy and Cindy Brewer of Brazil, Perry and Dawn Brewer of Seagraves, Jack and Gaye Nell Gregg of Andrews, Bob and Barbara Brennan of Katy, and Lin and Elizabeth Rice of Midland. He had 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers and their wives, Howard and Florene Brewer, Gene and Glenda Brewer, Duane and Cecilia Brewer, and three sisters and their husbands, A.B. and Virginia Cornett, Jimmy and Nadine Allen and Del and Kay Linders. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter and two sisters.
The family suggests memorials to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
