Altmar – After a long and painful illness, Danforth C. Bragdon, 79 years, died at the home of his son-in-law, Samuel Smith, Thursday afternoon. The funeral, which was largely attended, was held from the Methodist church at 11 o'clock, Sunday morning, the Rev. Mr. Aubrey officiating. Interment at Orwell cemetery.

Mr. Bragdon was born at Chaumont, December 26, 1825, and with the exception of a few years his entire life was spent in this state. In 1886 he went to Chattanooga, Tenn., returning with his family to Oswego in 1894, where he has since lived. He spent the last two winters in St. Augustine, Fla., from which place he was hastily summoned by the death of his wife, in April last, but owing to severe illness could not return home until May 30th. He never fully recovered from the shock of the death of his wife and gradually sank until the end.

He leaves to mourn his loss a host of friends and numerous relatives, there being twenty-one grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, also two sons, G. E. Bragdon, of St. Augustine, Fla.; A. B. Bragdon, of Oswego and three daughters, Mrs. Howard Dingman of Oswego; Mrs. A. T. Campbell, of Lowville, and Mrs. Mary B. Smith, of this village, two whom the most sincere condolence of our entire community is extended in their hour of sorrow.

Orwell – The remains of D. C. Bragdon, of Altmar, were buried in Evergreen cemetery, last Sabbath.
