Maycel Jean (Johnson) MacLean went home to be with The Lord, May 8, 2004 after a courageous year long battle with cancer.

She was born Nov. 16, 1928 and attended Wenatchee Schools, graduating from Wenatchee High School in 1947. She worked at the Vitaphone and Liberty theaters and later was employed for many years at SeaFirst Bank. Married to Donald E. MacLean in March of 1950, they went to live in Panama, the Canal Zone in 1952, for 21 wonderful years, where they raised their family. They lived no ordinary life there. She spent many weekends on the ocean, touring and fishing, and at the beach or traipsing through the jungle. Their family also enjoyed trail rides on the North Cascades Crest Trail.

In 1973, they returned to Wenatchee, where she again worked for Sea First until she retired in 1985. Maycel loved to draw, she enjoyed their travels by motor home and she was involved in her class reunions, and luncheons with classmates. Century Dance Club, Gyro Club, and Wenatchee Country Club were also her affiliates. Her family brought her the most enjoyment.

Maycel is survived by her husband, Donald E. MacLean; son,
Mark E. (Annie) MacLean; daughter, Donella M. (Louis) Vogel; grandsons, Louis M. Vogel, Trevor M. Vogel, Marko E. MacLean; sister, Janet J. Bolinger (Duane); nieces and nephews, Alan L. Johnson, Nancy Lyn Coy, Karen Jaspers, Kim D. Hanford, Kristi L. Falco, Jon P. Bolinger, and great nieces and nephews as well as many other relatives and many, many good friends.

Preceding her in death and awaiting her at home are her parents, long time Valley Pioneer residents, John Ezra Johnson, and Lillie J. Johnson; brothers, Chester O. Johnson and John Fred Johnson; sister, Bertha P. Ladwig; nephews, Don E. Bell and W. Fred Johnson.

Her life was well lived and she was very well loved, a life that is deeply missed by all. For nothing loved is ever lost and Maycel was loved so much.

A graveside service for Maycel will be held Saturday May 22, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen East Wenatchee Memorial Park Friends and relatives are welcome to the family's home at 2350 SE 8th St., E. Wenatchee, WA for a "Celebration of Maycel's Life" following the graveside service.
