FAG volunteer Brad Reinhardt (#47216819) provided the following: "Alexander's middle name was Craig. He was born 24 Oct 1844 in Holt county, Missouri before coming to California with his family in 1846. He was a California pioneer!"

Chico Record, Sunday Morning, March 18, 1923, pg 3 col 1: Alexander Craig Taber Dies at Home in This City. Alexander Craig Taber, a resident of Chico for the past twenty-seven years, died at his home on Twelfth avenue, Chico Vecino, at 12:50 yesterday morning following an illness of long duration. The deceased was a native of Missouri and was 78 years old.

Taber came to California with his parents when he was 8 years old. During the Civil war he served with Company A, Eighth Regular Infantry, California Volunteers, enlisting in December, 1864. He was appointed corporal on May 1, 1865, and honorably discharged on October 24, 1865 at Fort Point, San Francisco.

He is survived by his four daughters, Miss Rose Taber of Los Angeles, Mrs. S.M. Moore of Yuba City, Mrs. C.A. Williams and Miss Myrtle Taber of Sacramento, and three sons, J.C. Taber of Sacramento and B.I. Taber and J.H. Taber, both of Chico. He also leaves several grandchildren.

The funeral services will be conducted from the B.I. Taber home, 3737 Humboldt avenue, at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Rev. R.S. Eastman, pastor of the Presbyterian church, will officiate. Interment will be made in the Chico cemetery. The arrangements are under the direction of the Bicknell and Moore parlors.
