Andrew Y. Gordon whose residence is listed as Wells County, Indiana enlisted in Company F, Indiana 155th Infantry Regiment on March 24, 1865. Mustered out on August 4, 1865 at Dover, Delaware. Sources: Report of the Adjutant General of the State of Indiana.

Veterans benefits were sought on July 26 1890, while he was a resident of Ohio.

A.Y. Gordon, aged 62, born Ohio, occupation laborer, joined the Major General Henry W. Halleck Post No. 19, GAR, of Chico in 1910. He died November 5, 1917. Chico Record, Tuesday Morning, November 6, 1917, pg 5 col 4: A.Y. Gordon, G.A.R. Commander, Dead. A.Y. Gordon, one of the most prominent and active members of the Grand Army of the Republic in Chico, and for the last three years commander of Halleck Post, G.A.R., passed away shortly after 6 o'clock last evening at his home, Third avenue and Laurel street, Chico Vecino.

Deceased was sixty-nine years old, having been born in Dover, O., July 10, 1848. When yet in his teens, he enlisted in an Indiana regiment, and saw three years of active service during the Civil War.

He came to Chico eight years ago, since which time he had become well known throughout the city, especially through his activities in behalf of the G.A.R. movement to instill patriotism in the youth of the nation. He conducted a shoe store in Chico Vecino until last June, when he retired because of ill health.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Olivia Gordon; a daughter, Mrs. W.H. Sterling of Chico, and two grandchildren, Mrs. H.J. Neuueley of Woodland and Fred Rose of Chico.

Funeral services will be held at the Gordon home in Chico Vecino tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock, under the auspices of the G.A.R., W.R.C. and Odd Fellows. Interment will be made in Chico cemetery.

Chico Record, Wednesday Morning, November 7, 1917, pg 4 col 3: A.Y. Gordon to be Buried This Afternoon. A change has been made in arrangements for the funeral of A.Y. Gordon, late G.A.R. commander, who died Monday evening. The services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Engel chapel, instead of at the home in Chico Vecino. The Odd Fellows, G.A.R. and W.R.C. will attend the services.

Interment took place, per CCA records on Nov 7, 1917, age age 69, with research ongoing. Widow Olivia was granted widow's benefits per application on December 10, 1917.
