Chico Record, Sunday Morning, January 29, 1911, pg 4 col 3: Colored Resident Dead. Mrs. Anna Swepson, aged 59 years, 10 months and 6 days, died yesterday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.D. French, in this city. She was born in Missouri, and had lived in California forty-seven years and in Chico forty-two years. She was respected and loved, particularly by the colored population.
Anna (Annie I.) Swepson was interred, per the Chico Cemetery Association Records, in the plot noted, on January 30, 1911.
Chico Record, Tuesday Morning, January 31, 1911, pg 4 col 5: Mrs. Swepson’s Funeral. The funeral of Mrs. Anna Swepson (colored), was held Sunday afternoon from the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.D. French, on Wall street. A large number of relatives and friends escorted the body of the pioneer woman to her last resting place in the Chico cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. W.N. Cherry. The following acted as pall bearers: E. Edwards, E. Walters, C. Deshazo, A.J. Anderson, C. Dailey, Andy Summers.
