During World War II he was in six major battles : Tunisia (North Africa), Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno (Anzio), southern France, Rhine Island, and Central Europe. He was with the 367th Engineer Combat Battalion in France and Germany. He also served during the Korean Conflict as a staff sergeant.
